  • Location work with growers
  • Thousands of flower studies to license
  • Books, calendars and cards
  • RHS masterclasses

Clive’s flower photography sits closer to painting than to botany: peonies, lilies, tulips and dahlias arranged and lit like a Dutch still life, or a single bloom against a washed background. The work is ethereal and painterly, captured in carefully chosen moments as a flower opens and fades.

These photographs fill Clive’s books – Florescence, Paradise Found and Brilliant English Gardens. Our calendar clients are based worldwide; each year the beauty of Clive’s images fills calendars in the UK, the United States, Germany and Japan, along with greetings cards and prints. He has taught flower photography for the Royal Horticultural Society for many years.

Growers and florists commission studio and location work on their own flowers; publishers license from a library of many thousands of flower studies.

Questions

Do you photograph flowers in the studio or on location?

Both. The still lifes are made in the studio against painted backgrounds; close-up flower photography and portraits are often captured in situ, as part of a private garden shoot. Additionally, Clive will visit flower farmers, florists and collectors, who often have beautiful spaces in which to grow their blooms.

Can I license an existing flower photograph?

Yes. Thousands of flower studies are in the image library, rights-managed and royalty-free, and Jules can search by flower, colour or season for you.

Do you supply books, calendars and cards?

Clive’s flower photography fills his own books and the calendars of publishers in Britain, the United States, Germany and Japan, as well as greetings cards and prints. Publishers license from the library or commission new work.

Do you teach flower photography?

Clive has taught garden and flower photography for the Royal Horticultural Society for many years; upcoming dates are on the learn page.
